This is a recording i got sat outside a retro clothes shop on portobello road in london. Distant music combined with the market and people walking past creates a busy scene with the busy road that runs over the top of the market giving a nice base to fill out the recording. This sound is free to use but i'd love to see what it is used in!.

I recorded this sound at the steam-locomotives preservation park in kyoto, japan. Roar of steam whistle was much louder than i had imagined, so it was necessary to set the gain level of mic-preamp carefully. Using at825 and fr-2.

Adult-size scissors cutting regular white copy paper. Variety of cut lengths. Sennheiser me-66 shotgun condenser into sony mz-r70 minidisc, transferred into adobe audition at 44. 1khz/16bit through edirol ua-20 usb audio interface. Noise reduction via adobe audition.

The feeding of two hungry cats. Early sounds include tinkling of crunchy food falling into a near bowl and a more distant one, and the munching sounds of a purring cat. Then the snap of the top of the feeding container, and closure of a cabinet door. Two cats (bowmore and munro) the former near and the latter further away then transition to eating wet food. Recorded with the zoom h4 xy microphone pair in 24bit 48k wave, then converted to flac in audacity with a bit of amplification.
